Renee Marie Peterson, 95
Beloved Mother, Grandmother (G-Ma Pete), Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother, Renee Marie Peterson, 95, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Oct. 29, 2022, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Java, S.D. Renee was the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Minnearath) Karst.
Renee was united in marriage to Roy Peterson on Sept. 26, 1944, in Rosholt, S.D. Roy and Renee were married 72 years, before Roy’s passing in 2017. They raised eight children together.
Renee loved and enjoyed her family, gardening, sewing, oil painting, fishing, traveling and pinochle. She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, Idaho, for 72 years.
She leaves behind her loving family — seven children, Kathy Sprinkel (Gary-deceased) of Coeur d’Alene, Terisa Morgan (Gary) of Post Falls, Idaho, Betty Rauenhorst (Rick) of Pinehurst, Royce Peterson (Gail) of Bullhead City, Ariz., Vince Peterson (Billie Jo) of Pinehurst, Denise Peterson of Coeur d’Alene, Danny Peterson (Sue) of Kingston, Idaho, and a special friend who was like a son to Renee — Dave Bauman of Pinehurst; and 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. Renee was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Peterson; a daughter, Marlene Knotts; two granddaughters, Sherrill Brown and Catherine Lowe; one great-grandson, Branden Bergen; and five brothers, Ben, Francis, Joe, Ernest and Danny.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg, with Father Jerome Montez serving as Celebrant. Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. A reception/luncheon will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services; everyone is welcome.
