Two arrested following stabbing
SILVERTON — Deputies from the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stabbing on Tuesday afternoon in the usually-quiet community of Silverton.
Nicholas E. Bauer, 42, and Laurel D. Story-Bauer, 62, were taken into custody this afternoon following a multi-agency investigation that led law enforcement from the east Shoshone community, back to a motel in Kellogg.
The call came in around 1:30 p.m. after a woman was seen driving down Anderson Way with her husband, who had just been stabbed.
According to the victim's family, they were headed to the hospital when it appeared that the victim had stopped breathing. This prompted his wife to pull over and began trying to revive him. Unlike previous reports of a woman screaming, her efforts to keep her husband alive were seen by a pair of contractors working on a nearby home stopped what they were doing, and helped her get ahold of emergency crews.
Which arrived at the scene near the home that was being worked on by the contractors.
The stabbing occurred at a home located just around the corner from Anderson Way, at 506 Strope St. The alleged suspect fled the scene prior to law enforcement's arrival and had left the scene as a passenger in a vehicle.
Another witness explained to the News-Press that the victim and his alleged assailant were assisting in moving items from the home when, allegedly, a fight broke out — resulting in one man being stabbed by the other.
According to other reports, the alleged suspect and the driver of the vehicle drove to the Trail Motel in Kellogg, where with the assistance of Idaho State Police, Kellogg Police and Pinehurst Police, the SCSO took both into custody just after 4 p.m.
According to arrest reports, Bauer is being charged with aggravated assault and Story-Bauer is being charged with being an accessory to a felony.
