KELLOGG — The annual tradition of the Silver Mountain Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off the holiday ski season, taking place the day after the mountain is scheduled to open. The Silver Valley received a good amount of snow in November, and the mountain's opening day is planned to be Nov. 25.

Silver Mountain is excited to present another epic fireworks show this year, free visits with Santa Claus, free hot chocolate from Noah’s Canteen, free cookies from the newly opened Grocery Outlet, and local vendors selling their wares in the village.

Eventgoers can spread their holiday cheer by supporting the local Kellogg High School girl's basketball team by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets. The raffle winner will split the pot's total with the program.

Stick around after the Tree Lighting Ceremony for a premiere of the newest Warren Miller ski film, “Daymaker.” Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online. Tickets are limited, but if they don’t sell out, they will be sold at the door. Daymaker was shot on location in Idaho, Alaska, Colorado, Utah, Canada, Greece and Switzerland; described as a film that will take you on a journey to peaks that replace the mountains in your mind with ones that free your mind.

“Special thank you to Grocery Outlet for providing free cookies to attendees and Noah’s Canteen for providing free hot chocolate,” said Silver Mountain Marketing Manager Gus Colburn.

Unlike previous years, this year will not feature a lighting parade, so tree-lighting attendees should make their way to the Silver Mountain base before the beginning of the festivities.

The schedule for events is as follows:

• 5 p.m. Vendors are set up and ready for business, including free hot chocolate from Noah's and cookies from Grocery Outlet.

• 5:25 p.m. Santa arrives and lights the tree.

• 5:30 p.m. Santa is ready to hear Christmas Wishes.

• 6 p.m. Firework show begins; 50/50 winner announced directly after.

• 6:30 p.m. Santa departs the village.

• 7:30 p.m. "Daymaker" begins.
