James 'Van' V. Bryant II, 45

James “Van” V. Bryant II, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away Oct. 3, 2022, at his home in Cataldo. He was born Dec. 30, 1976, in Jacksonville, N.C. Van was the son of James Van and Tamara (Quinn) Bryant.

Van moved to the Silver Valley in the 1980s from North Carolina.

Van married Amber Coberly in 2015 and together they had a daughter, Pierlee.

Van was a miner and had received the Bolter Operator of the Year award from the Barrick Gold Mining Company. He also was a logger and had worked for various logging companies.

Van was an avid outdoors enthusiast, he loved and enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping.

Van is survived by three daughters, Gracie, Olivia and Pierlee; one sister, Lisa Knoll of Goldsboro, N.C.; one brother, Patrick Short of Pinehurst, Idaho; his maternal grandfather, Thurston Quinn of North Carolina; and dear friends John Nearing of Kingston, Idaho, Chris O’Neill of Cataldo and Tony Rivadeneira of Medimont, Idaho. Van is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Private family services will be held.
