CANDIDATE PROFILE – (R) Benjamin Allen, Prosecutor
Benjamin Allen is the current Prosecuting Attorney for Shoshone County and is running unopposed for the position in the upcoming General Election.
He has worked for the Shoshone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for eight years, starting first by completing internship projects to assist the county, coming on full-time as a deputy after graduating from law school, and eventually being promoted to chief deputy prior to receiving the appointment for the vacancy created by the departure of now magistrate judge Keisha Oxendine.
Allen traces his roots back to the area of central Idaho where he graduated valedictorian from Clearwater Valley High School.
He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Boise State University before obtaining his law degree from Gonzaga University.
Prior to relocating to the Silver Valley, Allen spent time working for the United States Attorney’s Office, the Lemhi County Prosecutor’s Office and clerking for 7th District Judge Stephen Clark. Allen places a high value in reinvesting in his community, leading him to have served as the president of both the local chapter of the Kiwanis organization and the Rotary club.
Allen is also active in youth sports officiating where he is serving as the president of the Idaho Officials Association.
This past year, Allen was recognized by the Idaho Business Review as one of the top attorneys in Idaho, and is currently undergoing the Idaho State Bar’s Academy of Leadership for Lawyers.
