CANDIDATE PROFILE – (D) Jerry White, Assessor

Jerry White is seeking re-election to the position of Shoshone County Assessor during the upcoming General Election.

He is running unopposed.

White has served the county as assessor for the past 20 years.

A 1979 graduate of Kellogg High School, White is well-versed in property valuation and has completed many International Association of Assessing Officers courses including: Principles of Property Valuation, Income Approach to Valuation, Valuation of Personnel Property, Assessment Administration, Forest Land Appraisal, Expert Witness, Ratio Study, Urban Renewal, Appraisal of Land.

He is also a certified tax appraiser with the Idaho State Tax Commission.

White and his wife, Candi, have four children and six grandchildren.

White’s goal is to, “maintain a well-trained, courteous staff and to spend our tax dollars wisely and to the best benefit of those taxpayers. And provide great service for those taxpayers.”

During his time as county assessor, White has earned several awards and accolades including serving as Idaho Association of County Assessors President (2006-07), the Mills-Adler Award, Idaho Association of Counties President (2019-20), Chair the Committee for Forestland Taxation Methodology, Chair of the Committee for Section 42 housing Methodology. White testified in front of the House and Senate Committee on the importance of the Property Tax Reduction for our senior citizens and even had a guest spot on PBS Idaho Reports on the importance of the Property Tax Reduction Program.

White believes the key issues associated with the job of an assessor are creating fair and equitable assessments, and being ready, willing and knowledgeable to defend those assessments.

“It has been a pleasure serving the fine people of Shoshone County for the last 20 years,” White said. “I look forward to serving them for the next four years.”
