Robert Trecker, 89

| April 4, 2023 1:10 AM

Robert “Bob” Francis Trecker, 89, of Cataldo, Idaho, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home March 30, 2023. Bob was born on April 9, 1933, in Jamestown, N.D., a son of the late John and Luella (Blakely) Trecker.

After growing up on the family dairy farm in North Dakota, Bob moved to the Silver Valley in 1955 and became a miner at Bunker Hill. After the mine closed, he then became a logger for many years. Bob married Gladys Anderson on Sept. 12, 1953, in North Dakota. Gladys passed away in 2007.

Bob was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. He and Gladys were snowbirds and enjoyed spending time in Arizona in the winter months. Bob loved to travel and took his family all around the country to see all the different sights and visit museums along the way. Some might consider Bob a card shark as he often won poker and pinochle games. Above all, Bob was very family oriented and relished the time he was able to spend with his children, all 11 of them, and his precious grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his dear wife, Gladys, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bill Trecker; and two sisters, Dorothy Szarkowski and Maisie Meyer.

Survivors include his 11 children, Diane Trecker, Tony (Teri) Trecker, Cindy Withers, Robert (Lenore) Trecker, Joseph (Carolyn) Trecker, Yvonne (Rusty) Mathis, Donna (Dale) Snyder, Karen (Russell) Hassel, Teresa Trecker, Thomas (Tina) Trecker and Lisa (Bobby) Davis. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Kellogg, with Father Jerome Montez as celebrant. Interment will follow at Hunt Cemetery in Kingston, Idaho. A celebration of Bob’s life will also be held in the summer on Sunday, July 2, 2023. Details will be announced.
