Single-vehicle accident stops traffic on Sunday

PINEHURST –– An accident on eastbound I-90 stopped traffic for several hours on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, the F-350 truck pulling a fifth-wheel camper trailer failed to navigate the curve in the highway near the eastbound I-90 on-ramp in Pinehurst and then jackknifed due to the slick road conditions.

No one was hurt during the accident, but extrication measures were required in order to gain access into the cab of the truck.

The scene of the accident unintentionally turned into a DUI checkpoint – as the scene was being cleared troopers with Idaho State Police were able to stop and apprehend a drunk driver as they passed by the accident.

Jim’s Towing Service was able to get the trailer flipped back onto its wheels and handled moving the vehicles from the scene – after nearly three hours the scene was completely cleared and both lanes were navigable again.
