Banner designs sought for Kellogg light poles
KELLOGG — Silver Valley artists and graphic designers are being sought for a design project to add local placemaking elements in Kellogg.
The winning design will be featured on 30 light poles around Kellogg as part of a revitalization project.
Paige Olsen, Silver Valley Economic Development Director said that “Kellogg has struggled with its sense of identity since back in the '80s and '90s. Initially, we started the conversation and one of our uptown socials, asking people what they wanted to see on the banners. After mixed reviews and looking at generic options, I decided this was an opportunity to include placemaking and see what the community would like.”
Designs must be submitted in a 5- by 10-inch format or 6- by 12-inch vertical format. Any differing sizes will affect the quality of the printed resolution. Submissions can be either digital or original hard copies and artists are allowed to submit multiple designs.
The deadline to submit designs is Friday, Dec. 15.
Money for the new banners comes from USDA's Rural Business Development Grant which is specifically geared towards small businesses. The purpose is to add to the beautification of the uptown business district.
“It's important for Kellogg's identity to come from the people who live and work there. There's so much potential, it's just a matter of giving the residents something to have pride in and visitors a reason to walk the streets and spend money in our businesses,” Olson said.
