Loren William Longley, 59

Loren William Longley, 59, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away Dec. 17, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Loren was born July 2, 1964, in Wallace, Idaho, to Jack/John and Carolyn (Zimmerman) Longley.

Loren will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Loren graduated from Wallace High School in 1982 and continued his education at NIC, where he specialized in diesel mechanics and carpentry.

Loren began his mining career in the Silver Valley; working for Galena, Stillwater, Cementation at the Lucky Friday and for Rockhead in Elk City, Idaho.

Loren married Sheryl Anne Diotte on July 26, 2001. Together, they moved to Big Timber, Mont., where Loren continued mining at Stillwater Mine. Loren then spent three years in Wallace working for Cementation at the Lucky Friday, then three years in Arizona at Resolution Mine.

Loren returned to his home state of Idaho in 2020 and continued mining for Rockhead in Elk City with his lifelong friend, Tim Hunter. 

When Loren was not working, he loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATV riding and camping.

Loren loved spending time with his loved ones.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Longley; and children Ashlee Aurora (Longley); son-in-law Justin Aurora; Chelsee Longley; grandchildren Justyce, Jacob, Bryson and Waylon Aurora; sister Candie Hoven; nieces Tiffinay Vargas, Stephaine Hoven and his devoted dog, Annie.

Loren’s celebration of life will be Jan. 6, 2024, at 1 p.m. at The Elks Lodge in Wallace, Idaho.

The family asks that a potluck dish be brought to share.
