Thomas A. Rogers, 85

Thomas “Tom” Allen Rogers, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great- and great-great-grandfather, passed away Feb. 5, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society – Silverwood Village in Silverton, Idaho. Tom was born on Aug. 31, 1937, in Okmulgee, Okla., a son of the late Marvin and Franceil (Thames) Rogers.

Tom attended schools in Oklahoma and later joined the U.S. Army. He married Marilyn June Peek in November 1959 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. To this union were born three children, Nancy, Ronald and Walter. Marilyn passed away on April 18, 2010.

Tom worked for the U.S. Forest Service for many years and was a Smoke Jumper. He had also been a salesman for various furniture stores throughout the years. Tom was a member of the Elks and Eagles, and also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his two sons, Duane Rogers of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Walter (Melinda) Rogers of Wallace, Idaho; his daughter, Nancy (Leonard) Hoiland of Osburn, Idaho; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, George Rogers of Montana, Dale Rogers of Oklahoma and Richard Rogers, also of Oklahoma; as well as several nieces and nephews.

At Tom’s request, cremation will take place and interment will take place at a later date at Shoshone Memorial Gardens in Kingston, Idaho.
