Happy New Year from all of us at Silver Mountain Resort! We rang in the new year on the mountain with night skiing for the first time since pre-pandemic. Mother Nature has already been kind to us in 2023 by providing a few beautiful bluebird sunny days to start off the new year. Temperatures on the mountain have stayed consistently cold, so the snow from last week’s storm has stayed light and powdery. We currently have a 61-inch base at the summit and 52-inch base at the Mountain House.

Jackass Day, on Jan. 12, is our annual tradition celebrating our ski area’s roots. In 1967, Jackass Ski Bowl opened on Wardner Peak with a Riblet chairlift that is current-day Chair 4. Every January, we celebrate Jackass Day by donning our best vintage ski gear and offering retro-priced lift tickets for only $19. There will be free birthday cake in Moguls restaurant after we all sing happy birthday to Jackass Ski Bowl.

Jackass Day tickets are available at silvermt.com/events/calendar.
