Kellogg ready for all-class reunion

KELLOGG –– Calling all those who bleed purple and sweat gold, all Kellogg Wildcats, the young and the not-so-young.

It’s time for the 2023 Kellogg High School All-Class Reunion.

Organizer Lori Sawyer and her dedicated committee of former KHS grads have been hard at work preparing for the upcoming three-day reunion and Sawyer is looking forward to seeing as many familiar faces as possible.

Whether it be at registration when each reunion-goer gets their t-shirt and goodie bag for the weekend, or if it’s during one of the special tours through Kellogg High School, where former students can relive the memories of their youth – these are the moments that, according to Sawyer, make these all-class reunions something more special than a regular class reunion.

“It’s not about just seeing your former classmates,” she said. “You get to see so many more of the people you went to school with, the people you saw in the hallways were older or younger than you. Folks can go explore the parts of town where they used to spend their time outside of school. It’s just so special.”

Sawyer has put together a loaded itinerary for the three-day event, including the tours of the high school, a special food court and beer garden, a reception for teachers and staff, a car show, a parade, live music, and a special reunion choir for the event’s closing ceremonies.

Much of the reunion will take place around Teeters Field, where folks coming from out of town will get their first look at the brand new concession stand that is nearly completed.

Registrations have been trickling in and Sawyer is anticipating even more in the coming days – right up to the beginning of the reunion.

“It’s so important for people to registered and paid,” she told the News-Press. “It’s obviously very difficult to plan for anything when you don’t know how many people are going to be there and if folks don’t pay then we aren’t going to be able to have these big reunions anymore.”

The event registration fees cover the costs of restroom facilities, the use of Kellogg’s city trolley, the event insurance, and other small costs along the way – all of which make up the entirety of the reunion.

“I’ve had several people say to me, ‘Why register at all? You just plan the event and people show up. It just happens,” Sawyer said. “These things don’t ‘just happen.’ They take quite a chunk of change to pull off.”
