Mildred May Larson, 97
Aug. 25, 1925 — May 28, 2023
Mildred May Larson, 97, of Smelterville, Idaho, passed away May 28, 2023, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho. Mildred was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Billings, Mont., a daughter of the late Constantine and Mary (Watson) Petro.
Mildred spent her younger years growing up in Montana working on a ranch, doing everything from cooking to breaking horses. Mildred was an independent woman who liked to take care of things her way. If the roof needed fixing, you could count on her climbing up there to do it (even in her 80s). This is a trait she passed down to the girls in her family. She loved spending time gardening and taking care of her yard, up until she just couldn't anymore. If you knew Mildred, you knew of her lemon meringue pies, homemade cinnamon rolls and the best pot roast you've ever tasted. Cooking was her love language, and she made sure no one ever left her home hungry.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Larson, who passed away in November of 2002; and a grandson, Chris Wickstrom.
Survivors include her son, Jim Larson; two daughters, Dorothy Cook and RaeAnn Larson; two granddaughters, Krista Brandt, and Marcy Imus; and four great-grandchildren, Cierra Brandt, Daniel Imus, Tracia Imus and Analia Imus.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 4, 2023, at noon at Shoshone Memorial Gardens, Pinehurst, Idaho.
