Shawn Rene Markus, 62
April 6, 1961 - May 30, 2023
Shawn Rene Markus, 62, of Kellogg, ID, passed away suddenly on May 30, 2023, at her home in Kellogg. Shawn was born on April 6, 1961, in Butte, MT, a daughter of the late Patricia Kilgore Allmer and step-father, Charles (Chuck) Jennings.
Shawn’s family moved to the Silver Valley a few years after she was born. She attended Mullan High School and met and married her high school sweetheart, Chuck Talley, in April of 1978. After three years together, the couple welcomed one son, Beau.
She later attended and graduated from the Headmasters School of Hair Design. She briefly owned a salon in Kellogg at the beginning of her career and then later worked for several others. She eventually owned and operated Silver Stiletto at the base of the gondola in Kellogg for over five years. One of her favorite things about being a hairdresser was getting to know everyone and building lifelong relationships with clients while she shared as much about her life with them.
Shawn briefly bartended around Kellogg for a few years until she started working at the Kellogg liquor store, where she has worked for the past six years. She loved having a job with the public so that she could still see everyone and continue to enjoy her clients. Shawn finally found her calling and became a caregiver to friends and family. She cared and loved for them until their final days and helped them peacefully pass to the other side while comforting the families. Shawn was an amazing caregiver and took great care of those that relied on her the most.
In January 2010, her life forever changed when she became a grandmother to her first and only grandchild, Hunter. After he was born, she found her real purpose in life and enjoyed every day with him that she possibly could. Her family was everything to her and it was very well known that her boys were her world. Every holiday, big or small, she was always celebrating and making sure everyone felt loved.
In addition to her parents, Shawn is preceded in death by her little brother, David Schaff.
Shawn is survived by her only child, Beau (Tiffany) Talley of Kellogg, ID; grandson, Hunter Talley; two brothers, Marlon (Tanya) Allmer of Pinehurst, ID, and Greg (Lujean) Allmer of Silverton, ID; a step-sister, Colleen (Frank) Reed of Kellogg, ID; fiancé, Eric Johnson of Kellogg, ID; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 6:00 PM at #2 Hill St., Pinehurst, ID. Please bring a dish and a memory about Shawn to share.
