Joyce Lorraine Aamodt, 92, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Feb. 25, 2023, at Mountain Valley of Cascadia in Kellogg surrounded by her family.

Joyce was born on Aug. 8, 1930, in Willow City, N.D., a daughter of the late Jesse Marie Knapp and George Eugene Harding. She went to school in Willow City though the eighth grade when she helped her dad on the family farm.

She married Arthur Royden Aamodt on June 6, 1948. They divorced years later. Joyce worked as a wife and mother. She loved her children and her home and took great pride in both. When the children were older, she worked as a janitor for Gary’s Corner Drug, the United Church in Kellogg, and as a rural mail carrier for many years. Joyce completed a CNA class and became a CNA employed by the Hill Haven Nursing Home (now Mountain Valley of Cascadia) for 10 years. She was also a cook for Senior Services Meals on Wheels program in Osburn. She was well-known for baking the best pies. She shared her pie making talent by baking pies for the Shady Lady, the Silver Valley Truck Stop, and for friends and family. After retirement, she became a Senior Companion.

Joyce was an avid bowler and loved going to tournaments. She was so much fun and always had a big smile no matter what. She was a member of the Grandmothers Club, American Lutheran Church of Kellogg, the church quilting group, Pythian Sisters and the 600 Bowling Club.

Joyce is survived by five children, Linda (Albert) Cummings of Smelterville, Idaho; Wesley Aamodt of Kingston, Idaho; Kristie Ryder of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Randy (Linda) Aamodt of Deer Park, Wash.; and Donald (Karen) Aamodt of Lapine, Ore.
