Elaine D. Charvez, 74
Elaine D. Charvez, 74, of Mullan, Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away March 13, 2023, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. Elaine was born Jan. 8, 1949, in Santa Clara, Calif., daughter of Ray and Elaine (Welsh) Janis.
Elaine graduated from high school in Santa Clara. She met Allen Charvez at a youth center called the “What’s It Club.” Dancing the 2-Step was Elaine’s favorite style of dance. Allen and Elaine were joined in marriage Nov. 30, 1968, in Gilroy, Calif., and were married for 54 years. After being married only three months, Allen was drafted to serve in Vietnam. Elaine waited two years for Allen to return home. Both Elaine and Allen were strong in their faith as Jehovah’s Witnesses.
During her years of working at Walmart in Smelterville, Elaine enjoyed visiting with her favorite customers and the feeling was mutual.
Her family was very important to her. She loved having her family and friends together for barbecues, family dinners, playing cards (rummy was her favorite), sharing stories of her youth, sewing, shopping and camping. During the summer, she loved to plant flowers and work in the yard. Baking was another favorite past time with her award winning spaghetti and cheesecake. Baking with her grandkids brought Elaine so much joy. She enjoyed her Volkswagen Bug even when the weather wasn’t cooperating. She loved horses and said she wants a horse in paradise.
She loved her husband, Allen so much. They were not just husband and wife, they were best friends and partners for life — an awesome example of how to love and work through anything as a married couple.
Survivors include her loving husband, Allen Charvez at the family home in Mullan, Idaho; her daughters, Melissa Charvez and Ashley Charvez; son Caleb Charvez; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Pinehurst, Idaho.
