| March 31, 2023 1:25 AM

Margaret Ellen Coe, 86, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and former longtime resident of Osburn, Idaho, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 23, 2023, at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A devout Christian, a loving and supportive mother, and a wonderful grandmother, Margaret’s memory and infectious smile will be treasured by many.

Margaret was born on Oct. 2, 1936, in Fort Benton, Mont., a daughter of the late Donald and Hilda (Fatz) Wolfe. The family relocated to Spokane, Wash., where she graduated from North Central High School. Margaret married Richard Claude Coe on Sept. 9, 1955, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Richard later passed away June 18, 2010.

For many years, Margaret was a cashier at the former Stein’s grocery store in Osburn. However, her main job was raising her two boys, Kurt and Rick. She took great joy in nurturing her sons, instilling in them principles and family values. In later years, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cherished their visits to her home in Osburn.

Margaret was a phenomenal baker and as many can attest to, her specialty was Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking daily walks. However, Margaret’s greatest passion was serving her Lord and Savior. She was a member of the Osburn Christian Center for many years. Daily, she would spend time reading her Bible, and sharing her testimony. Her son, Rick, recalls Margaret calling him daily to share scripture.

In addition to her parents and husband, Richard, Margaret is preceded in death by her brother, Don Wolfe and her sister, Marian Hoffman.

Survivors include her two sons, Kurt (Lisa) Coe of Pinehurst, Idaho, and Rick Coe of Wallace, Idaho; six grandchildren, Michael Coe of San Diego, Calif., Megan (Steve) Garza of Phoenix, Ariz., Samuel (Lauren) Coe of Oneida, Wis., Jared Coe of Kellogg, Idaho, Stefanie Coe of Pinehurst and John Paul Webb (her grandson-in-spirit). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Her sons wish to express a special thank you to Lisa Coe, Margaret’s daughter-in-law, for the exceptional care she gave to Margaret during her battle with dementia. Lisa went above and beyond what was expected to ensure Margaret received the best of care and attention. Your kindness, Lisa, will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg. Private family burial has taken place at Day Cemetery in Osburn, where Margaret was laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Richard.
