Dorothy J. Jaggard, 96

Dorothy J. Jaggard, 96, passed away Sept. 26, 2023, in Silverton, Idaho. She was born in Perth Amboy, N.J., in 1927 to parents Viola and Joseph Clees. After graduating from high school at age 18, in a brave move, she boarded a train to travel across the country to Wallace, Idaho, to marry Donald Jaggard, who was returning from WWII. They were married for 58 years, until his death in 2003. They had three children: Donna, Danny and Doris, who survive her. Her grandchildren total seven, great-grandchildren eight and one great-great-grandson.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal church in Wallace where she wore many hats; vestry and ECW member, senior warden and directress of the altar for 51 years. She was known as the “Queen of the Rummage Sale!" She volunteered at the Good Sam home in Silverton for 25 years and was a Campfire and Blue Birds leader as well. They played Pinochle and Bridge with friends. She was a skilled cook, seamstress and needleworker. She loved gardening, huckleberry picking and fishing; often getting “the big one!" Corresponding with friends and family, she was an avid writer; including a pen pal from England for 80 years! She and Don traveled the world together: Alaska, Europe, the Caribbean and Australia.

An amazing singer, Mom sang in the church choir and the community Easter cantata. She could also call us home at dinnertime no matter where in town we might be! LOL! She was funny and loved to laugh! She was feisty!
