How long have you lived in Idaho and in your city? Idaho resident since birth, Pinehurst/Pine Creek for 19 years.
Marital Status: Married since 2014
Family: My parents and many family members are KHS graduates and continue to be active community members. My husband is a wildland firefighter and has volunteered with search and rescue as well as the local fire districts. We have three children, a son-in-law, and a grandchild. Our two youngest attend Canyon Elementary.
-What experience has prepared you for this office?
I have served as the Zone 4 trustee since being elected in 2020. I have regularly attended the board meetings, as well as numerous training opportunities. Through that training, I have learned the role of a trustee and the relationship between the school district and the community. As a parent of students, I am able to see firsthand what our district is doing great, and how we are continually trying to improve.
-What is the No. 1 issue/problem you believe you will face if elected, and how will you resolve it?
I believe our current issue is to continue to attract and retain staff. I will work with our administration to offer the best work environment, where we can celebrate student and teacher success. I believe by improving our transparency and relationship with patrons, we can improve the community support for our staff.
-What do you consider a top responsibility for the position you’re seeking?
I believe we must advocate on behalf of students and our schools while promoting public education. The board must work to govern within the local, state, and federal laws.
-Why should voters choose you?
I do not have a political or personal agenda. I understand the responsibilities of the board position, along with the limits. I know that not one trustee alone can make decisions, but we must work together for the continuous improvement of our district. I want to put our students first, which in turn provides a base for our entire community to continue to grow and thrive.
