CANDIDATE PROFILE – Lori Teeters, Kellogg City Council, Seat 3

| October 20, 2023 1:00 AM

Full Name: Lori J. Teeters

Birth Date: 9/3/1971

Profession: Office Manager/Administrative

Highest level of education completed: High School Diploma

Degrees and professional certifications: Cosmetology

Civic organization or nonprofit board service: Secretary for D2M ATV club

How long have you lived in Idaho and in your city? We moved to Wallace four years ago. We recently sold our home in Wallace and moved to Kellogg four months ago.

Marital Status: Married

Family: My husband, Keith Teeters and I have five children and four grandchildren.

  • What experience has prepared you for this office?

I have worked in customer service for 20+ years, my experience included developing and sustaining relationships with a wide range of people. For two years I worked for the Shoshone County Commissioners as the Deputy Clerk/Administrative Assistant, and at that position learned many government processes; elections, public meetings, Idaho statutes, fiscal responsibility and what services are vital to community health, safety, and economic activity/development. I further served as an Administrative Assistant for the Shoshone County Ambulance Service District, supporting the board in administrative tasks by attending meetings, taking meeting minutes, putting together agendas, etc. I gained valuable experience and knowledge of our City and County medical and fire services working with staff from both Fire Districts in the valley.

  • What is the No. 1 issue/problem you believe you will face if elected, and how will you resolve it?

It seems to me substantial growth has divided the valley by politics, socioeconomics, education, cultural diversity, etc. Sustainable growth is key to the economics of the city, but keeping the same traditions and values is important for the culture. I will be a voice of common ground for the residents of Kellogg.

  • What do you consider a top responsibility for the position you’re seeking?

My first priority will be to educate myself on the City of Kellogg’s concerns and accomplishments. In doing so, I can make informed decisions, advocate effectively for our community’s needs, contribute to the city’s well-being in a thoughtful and responsible manner, and be a part of the continued success of the city.

  • Why should voters choose you?

When my husband initially introduced me to the Valley, I fell in love with it, and wanted to move here and involve myself in the community. I love the valley, its residents, and its traditions. Our decision to relocate was never about instigating change but rather it was driven by our admiration for the enduring values, ethics, and the simplicity of life here in the valley. I want to be a part of keeping the historical and traditional values alive and yet embrace the new. As a current resident of Kellogg and an employee of one of the valley’s most historic mines, I am passionate about the City of Kellogg. I strongly believe I am qualified for the position, and I am committed to serving on the Kellogg City Council in whatever capacity I am needed.
