Radio Brewing releases limited-edition beer
KELLOGG –– Radio Brewing has released a limited-edition beer to commemorate the restart of the Bunker Hill Mine.
The Bunker is a hazy session India Pale Ale (IPA) that features a blend of Idaho 7, Columbus, and Cashmere hops – All grown in Idaho.
The new IPA is unique in both its flavor and relatively low alcohol volume explained Radio Sales Manager Heidi Klein.
“A lot of people say they taste citrus, but that’s the blend of hops you’re tasting,” Klein said. “The Bunker is unique, because as a session IPA, it packs all the flavor people expect from an IPA, but without the higher alcohol volume. This is the IPA for people who don’t want to be ass-in-the-grass drunk.”
While most IPA’s alcohol by volume (ABV) begin at 5% and only go up from there, session IPAs are 5% or less. The hallmark of Session IPAs is that they are beers that you can enjoy more than one pint of without the full or bloated feeling that may come with a single pint of an imperial or American IPA. The Bunker Session IPA clocks in at a modest 4.3% ABV.
“We’re so excited for Bunker Hill to be restarting,” Klein said. “We wanted to do something to show how much this means to the community.”
Radio has produced a single batch of the beer for release but believes it could become a mainstay if it gains popularity.
Along with the Bunker, Radio will be running specials every Tuesday that include dollar-off beers, and specialized menu and appetizer items.
“The owners love this community,” Klein said. “We get a lot of tourists and folks from out of town, but we want to make sure that the locals throughout the community know that Radio is a place they can come and get good beer and good food at a reasonable price.”
One of their most exciting menu additions is the new Sausage Sampler, which features sausage made in Coeur d’Alene, cooked in Radio’s very own Amber Ale.
Open seven days a week, Radio Brewing is located at 319 Main Street in uptown Kellogg, Idaho. Weekly specials will be posted on Radio Brewing’s Facebook page.
