KELLOGG WRESTLING

- 12/20-21

George Wild Memorial Tournament

KELLOGG –– The Wildcat boys and girls held their own during the George Wild Memorial Tournament at Kellogg High School.

23 boys teams and 15 girls teams packed out Andrews Gymnasium over the weekend for the tournament, which was won by Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint respectively.

Wildcats Johnny Stovern (106), Colton Storey (113), and Carsun Hinkelmann (120) walked away with championships, navigating competitive fields that included some of their own teammates on their way to the top of the podium.

“I was really pleased with how our team wrestled, especially since we battled some illnesses and injuries this past week,” Kellogg coach Scott Miller said. “Our kids went out and battled through. Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls wrestled really good tournaments as did Sandpoint. Our team hung around all weekend and I'm pleased with the fourth-place finish.”

Kellogg’s Kevin Watson, Chase Scribner, Tanner Williams, and Jayce Haynes all finished on the podium, as did Kalayah White for the girls.

“Both our girls wrestled really well this weekend and we were happy with their performances,” Miller said. “It was great to have all weight classes at play in the girl's division and the 15 teams was the highest we have had.”

George Wild is a major regional tournament, attracting teams from across the region. Because of this, it requires numerous volunteers and community support to pull off.

“This tournament is a success because of all the people that volunteer their time to fill the mat tables, run the head table, provide a great hospitality room and handle the concessions,” Miller said. “To all of them, a heartfelt thanks. This is truly a community event.”
