BORDER SHENANIGANS: ‘Appalling and immoral’

| February 2, 2024 1:00 AM

I have just read in the Coeur d’Alene Press, Jan. 27, that Idaho’s Gov. Little is planning to send two teams of state troopers to the Texas border in the coming weeks. This to help secure the open border which he blames on President Biden.

At the same time, President Biden and a bipartisan group of senators have put together a bill to help address some of the problems at the border. The House of Representatives, under the guidance of Mike Johnson and at the urging of Donald Trump are calling the bill “dead on arrival” in the House. Trump sees a bill that promises to deal with the immigration problem a “gift to Biden in this election year.” (He wants to save that for his expected term?)

Sen. Mitt Romney has called the Republican reaction “appalling.” Sen. Tillis calls it “immoral.” Five other senators have chastised the House for their response. And in addition to all of this, the Supreme Court has ruled against Texas Gov. Abbott’s position that Gov. Little and 24 other Republican governors are supporting. By sending these Idaho policemen to Texas to help Gov. Abbot, Gov. Little is defying this court order and this breaking of the law. By refusing to consider a bipartisan immigration bill the House of Representatives is once again missing a chance to help solve the immigration problems they are so willing to blame on Biden and the Democrats.

As Romney and Tillis have said, “Appalling and immoral.” Two of the “last honest men.”
