Margie Mae Casteel, 102

| February 6, 2024 1:00 AM

Margie Mae Casteel, 102, of Silverton, Idaho, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother many times over passed away peacefully Jan. 26, 2024, at Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, where she had been a resident for several years.

Margie was born July 19, 1921, in Elk Garden, Va., and was the daughter of Tom Fogleman and Mary Robinson Fogleman. She married her husband, Charlie Casteel, on Oct. 21, 1940, in Kentucky. The couple moved to Silver Valley, Idaho, in 1957, where Margie has lived ever since.

During her adulthood, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for many years at the same Silverton nursing home in which she peacefully passed. Her caring nature and commitment to serving her community were always present. Margie was also an active member of the Shoshone County Democratic Committee.

Margie enjoyed drawing, reading, solving crossword puzzles, gardening and searching for treasures at garage sales. She also loved her “shows” on television, her favorite being "The Guiding Light." To her family and those around her, she was genuinely enthralled by the beauty of life — her smiles, giggles and twinkling eyes will remain in our memories forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie, her sons, Charles (Larry) and Tommy, and her daughter, Judy.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sharon Casteel, eight grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Shoshone Funeral Services at 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Silverton Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia, a place that brought much joy, solace and companionship to Margie throughout her life, to provide them with crafts and entertainment for their current residents.
