Wallace will be battleground for extreme ski competition

| February 13, 2024 1:00 AM

WALLACE — Extreme Ski Jor returns to Wallace on Feb. 16-18. The extreme ski and snowboarding event takes place in downtown Wallace with the course on Cedar running west from Seventh Street to Fifth Street.

The snow sports will have two different setups for different events. On Friday, the Rail Jam is open to competitors of any age and any skill level and the following day, the course is redone to host a big jump for adult skiers and snowboarders.

Siobhan Curet, president of Ski Wallace, said they have already received more pre-registered contestants than in the past, so they anticipate a large pool of competitors this year. Ski Wallace is also hosting an '80s costume contest as part of Ski Jor.

Bleachers are set up on Sixth Street on the south side in front of Blackboard Cafe and a sledding hill by Mountain West Bank on Sixth Street is available for additional winter recreation.
