James Lemm, 87

| February 16, 2024 1:00 AM

James Lelin Lemm passed away Feb. 9, 2024, in his sleep at 87. James was best known by his nickname, Jim Sr. Sr was living comfortably in an assisted living home in Post Falls with Ruth. He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 70 years, and children Kathy, Lynda and Jimmy; with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

James and Ruth are known for founding J&R Electronics in the Silver Valley. The company is still successful today.

The Lemm family moved to the Valley after the Korean War and have always considered it home. Jim Sr. was a gifted electronics technician. During his time in the Navy, he designed and deployed the automated landing light system that was used on our aircraft carriers into the 1980s. That’s quite remarkable for a young mind of 18. After the Navy, he worked as an engineer for the FAA in Mullan before starting the electronics company. His time with the company was remarkable in skill and with his grit to go to remote locations in any condition and restore systems.

Jim Sr. is well-known for having an infectious sense of humor and a boyish charm. He enjoyed the simple life and the hard work of a farm but loved electronics. Being an accomplished technician, he always made time to assist the amateur radio community.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to One Site for Seniors 208-651-9060 to help provide care and support for seniors living with memory loss or Newby-Ginnings at 208-610-6996 to help support our troops.
