Darlene Kay Lagerquist, 73

Darlene Kay (Reynolds) Lagerquist, 73, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.

Darlene was born Feb. 10, 1950, to Cliff and Agnes (Christiansen) Reynolds in Kellogg, Idaho. Darlene was raised in Bear Creek, Idaho. She attended Kingston Elementary School, Pinehurst Elementary/Jr. High School, and graduated from Kellogg High School, Class of 1968. She also attended North Idaho College for two years.

She married her high school sweetheart, Paul Lagerquist in 1970 in Kellogg, Idaho. They made their home in Smelterville, Idaho, where they raised their two daughters, Kristie born in 1971 and Katie born in 1973.  Paul was a miner in the Silver Valley and also logged in Idaho and Montana while Darlene was a homemaker.

Paul and Darlene moved their family to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska in 1980. They later moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, in 1982 and settled in North Pole, Alaska, in 1986. Paul and Darlene returned to Harrison, Idaho, in 2000, where they currently reside.

Darlene learned the banking business starting in Sand Point, Alaska, as a teller. She later learned the mortgage lending side of banking becoming a loan officer, mortgage broker and Vice President of mortgage loans.

Darlene’s hobbies included camping, spending time traveling, working around her home, and socializing with family and friends. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting, and loved crafting. She was a great cook and baker and her greatest joy was her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Agnes Reynolds, sisters Jeanie Roe and Maggie Reynolds, brothers David and Roger Reynolds and daughter Kristine (Lagerquist) Lefebvre.

Darlene leaves to cherish her memories: husband Paul Lagerquist of Harrison, Idaho, daughter Katie (John) Jansen of Moses Lake, Wash., and brother Dale Reynolds of Harrison, Idaho. Grandchildren: Fischer and Kendal Jansen of Moses Lake, Wash. Brandon (Jamie) Lefebvre of Whitefish, Mont., Jenifer Earl of Fairbanks, Alaska, Jordan (Jake) Lefebvre-Hanson of Columbia Falls, Mont., Shealyn Lefebvre of Phoenix, Ariz., and Beau Lefebvre of Marion, Mont. Great grandchildren: Anna Lefebvre, Waylon Lefebvre and Jalan Butkovich of White Fish, Mont., Charlotte Earl of Fairbanks, Alaska, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Mountain View Congregational Church 525 W. Cameron, Kellogg, Idaho with a reception to follow at the Country Barn B&B and Event Center, 18500 Old Lane Road, Cataldo, ID 83810.
