Lowan Olive Smith, 89

Lowan Olive Smith, 89, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Jan. 16, 2024, at Pacifica of Pinehurst in Pinehurst, Idaho, where she had resided for several years. Lowan was born Jan. 1, 1935, in Watertown, S.D., a daughter of Harry Noecker and Olive (Nord) Noecker.

Lowan attended schools in Watertown, S.D., and later married James Smith on Feb. 20, 1953, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was a stay-at-home mom and raised her children, Debbie, Scott and Lori. She enjoyed life, especially spending time with family and friends, as well as playing bridge and golf.

In addition to her parents and husband James, Lowan is preceded in death by her sisters, Delaine and Marlene; and a brother, Loyal.

Survivors include her children, Debbie (Wayne) Kovash of Post Falls, Idaho, Scott (Gail) Smith of Post Falls, Idaho, and Lori (Dennis) Gerger of Grants Pass, Ore.; grandchildren Angela Edminster, Tyson Kovash, Cory Smith, Megan Kucera, Diane Scott, Elizabeth Peightal, Beth Finney, Shelby Gerger and Darren Gerger; as well as 22 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Lowan will be held Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, Idaho.
