Silver Valley swimming pools announce summer schedules

| June 4, 2024 2:23 PM

Summertime is swimming time and the three swimming pools in the Silver Valley are geared up for a full season of fun.

The Mullan Pavilion is the only swimming pool currently open for swimming, but both Wallace and Kellogg’s public facilities are expected to open in the next few weeks.

WALLACE CITY POOL

The Wallace City Pool spent most of the previous five years under strict renovations and was scheduled to open on June 8. However, it recently postponed its opening to complete some minor maintenance.

Once they’re open for the season, they will operate daily from 12 p.m. through 5 p.m. for open swimming, and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on weekdays for lap swimming.

The Wallace City Pool has three swim lesson classes scheduled throughout the summer, with registration opening June 9. For more information, visit the Wallace City Pool Facebook page.

MULLAN SWIMMING POOL

The Mullan Pavilion is open on weekdays from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for open swimming, and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for lap swimming.

A full schedule can be found on the Mullan Swimming Pool Facebook Page.

KELLOGG SWIMMING POOL

The Kellogg Swimming Pool is tentatively scheduled to open for the season on June 17, barring any hiccups in the maintenance work that needs to be completed.

According to Kellogg Public Works Director Mike Fitzgerald, the pool is currently completing its seasonal draining before crews can tackle any tile repair, surface repainting, and deck patching before they refill the pool. Over the winter, the city replaced the pool’s heater pump system and refurbished the chlorinator. They will also complete several plumbing projects inside the pool’s locker room facilities.

Once open, the pool will operate on weekdays from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. with a 30-minute break at 2 p.m. Lap swimming will be available on those days from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Kellogg City Council once again voted in favor of keeping the pool free of charge.

“The Kellogg Public Pool is proud to contribute to the quality of life for our community, and for future generations, through welcoming, fun, safe, and positive aquatic experiences,” read a release from the city.
