Pinehurst call leads to false imprisonment charge

PINEHURST — A dispatch call Sunday concerning apartments on Division Street in Pinehurst led to charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment.

Pinehurst Police Chief John Richter said a lady living on the bottom floor and a lady living on the top floor were in a conflict, resulting in the charges.

“The lady on the bottom floor was charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment because she tied the only egress door shut.” Richter said. "The lady upstairs couldn’t get out and (it remained) that way for hours."

Communication between the two women indicated it was intentionally being done and the upstairs woman was stuck in her apartment.

Stacy Lynnette Marang, 48, was arrested and booked for second-degree kidnapping (no ransom), false imprisonment and a probation violation.

No parties were reported to be harmed during the incident. Pinehurst Police Department, the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and Kellogg Police Department assisted in the call.

The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office provided additional information that 6 ounces of meth were seized from the building during a drug raid in February.
