Jacqueline Carrol (Etherton) Fields, 78, of Pine Creek, Idaho, passed away peacefully May 1, 2024, surrounded by family at Pacifica Senior Living in Pinehurst, Idaho.

Jackie was born the first of six children May 19, 1945, in Kellogg, Idaho, to Jack and Jean Etherton of Pine Creek. She grew up on the family homestead on Pine Creek. She graduated from Kellogg High School in 1963 and attended the College of Idaho, Lewis Clark State College and the University of Idaho, where, in 1969, she graduated with a degree in zoology.

In 1974, Jackie gave birth to her only child, Jeremiah. They later moved to Lewiston, where Jackie earned her teaching credentials. She returned to the Silver Valley and spent the next several years teaching in the Wallace and Kellogg school districts.

Jackie met Rod Fields in 1982, and in September of 1983 they were married. Jackie and Rod spent 31 years together camping, four-wheeling, and exploring nature. After Rod’s death, Jackie kept herself busy volunteering at the Staff House Museum, scanning old pictures for the Pine Creek Hysterical Society, gardening, sewing, spending time with her grandkids, and playing music at the Senior Center and Kellogg nursing home.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jean Etherton, and her husband, Rod Fields. She is survived by her son, Jeremiah Jordan Fields (Trudi), and their children, Annika Jordan, Aydin Jordan, and Tarryn Brunton. She’s also survived by sisters Judy Etherton, Jodi (John) Haire, and Jo Hannah Etherton (Sam Hopper), along with brothers Jim (Marcia) Etherton and Jon (Teri) Etherton and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to help us celebrate Jackie’s life at the Pine Creek Tavern, 3978 Pine Creek Road, on Saturday, May 11, from noon to 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Shoshone County Mining and Smelting Museum, P.O. Box 783, Kellogg, ID 83837.
