KELLOGG – The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office have reported that a teacher discovered a discarded firearm Monday in the creek near Kellogg High School.
Just before 1 p.m., the teacher took her class on an excursion to pick up trash near the water. She found a box in the water that looked out of the ordinary, the sheriffs office said.
Upon examining the box, she realized it contained a firearm and turned it over to the school resource officer.
Law enforcement determined the firearm was reported stolen in Montana last week.
At this time, it is unknown who discarded the stolen firearm in the creek.
