Silver Valley Sports: College Signing Photos

| May 28, 2024 1:00 AM

Several local athletes recently put pen to paper, committing to compete at the next level.

Kellogg High School volleyball standout Maddie Cheney signed with Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, where she will join her sister Hailey on the Nighthawks. A six-foot lefty, Cheney dominated all over the court for the Wildcats as a four-year varsity player but made the biggest impact as an outside hitter and blocker.

Zoe Brooks, another multi-year varsity player from KHS's Volleyball Program, signed with the College of the Siskiyous Eagles, out of Weed, California. Brooks made a name for herself as a utility player on the Wildcats – capable on both the front and back rows. She will be playing both indoor and beach volleyball.

Kellogg wrestler Jaeger Hall has committed to Missouri Baptist University in Creve Coeur, Missouri, but will officially sign with the Spartans on May 29. Hall is a four-time state tournament qualifier, two-time medalist, and a state champion.

Wallace High School's Britany Phillips signed with Yakima Valley College in Yakima, Washington, where she will play basketball for the Yaks in the NWAC. Phillips was among the top scores in the state during her senior season with the Miners, earning a 1A All-State selection in the process.

Basketball isn't the only sport at Yakima Valley College that will feature a Wallace Miner – Tia Hendrick, the Scenic Idaho League's co-MVP signed with the Yaks to play volleyball. Hendrick's skill set at the net and from the serving line made her a matchup nightmare for teams that will translate at the next level.
