Silver Mountain employee struck by accidental gunshot
An off-duty employee of Silver Mountain received a non-life threatening injury Sunday night when a gun accidentally discharged at the at the top of the mountain, according to a news release from Silver Mountain.
The gun discharged at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday and medical personnel were transported to the Mountain House by snow groomer to assist. The injured employee was then transported down the mountain via the gondola and taken to receive medical care.
Shoshone County Fire District No. 2, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and Silver Mountain employees were credited with quickly getting the injured worker off the mountain to receive medical care.
The sheriff’s office reported that a handgun in a pants pocket went off when the individual put his hand in his pocket.
Deputies at the scene determined the incident to be an accident and stated that there would be no further investigation.
