The return of Kelloween

KELLOGG — The spooky season is coming to Kellogg Saturday, Oct. 26 as Kelloween celebrations kick off this weekend.
The main spate of activities will be based around the old McConnell Hotel lot near Main Street and McKinley Avenue, but the shuttle renamed the “Trolley of Terror” will begin carrying people back and forth across town from 7-10 p.m.
The trolley will go between Crystal Gold Mine Haunted Mine Tour and the Kellogg High School haunted house at the Kellogg School District Administrative Annex (formerly known as the Kellogg Middle School).
Kellogg’s community planner Monica Miller said many of the activities planned will take place earlier in the day to “capitalize on the warmth of daylight."
The witch walk begins at 11 a.m. at Skateboard Park uptown on Main St. near Silver Ave.
Cowboy Andy and the Salamanders will serenade spectators at 1 p.m. in the McConnell lot. The musical group is an interactive kids band based out of Missoula.
Trick-or-treating, pumpkin bowling takes place from 1-4 p.m. along with the return of zombie tag. There will also be facepainting, goodie bags and vendors with goods to peruse. For adults 21 and older, the Radio Brewing beer tent will be available.
The CDA Photo Bus offers eventgoers the chance to snap photos in their costumes with fun props to commemorate the event.
A costume contest starts at 3 p.m. to determine the best, funniest, scariest and best couple costumes.
Shrieks will fill the air at 3:30 p.m. as judges hold a contest to determine the best scream.
There will also be a pie eating contest, and people are being asked to vote for their favorite scarecrows displayed around town.
Runners will take a jack-o-lantern lit loop around town during the After Dark Dash 5k at 6 p.m. starting from the city square by Idaho Ave. and Main St.
The Inland Lounge is offering free pumpkins and decorating kits and Nocturn is hosting a tarot card reading.
Parking lots will be open on Flume St. Behind the Kellogg Elks and Shoshone Funeral Services.

A Cowboy Murder Mystery Dinner takes place 4:30 Friday, Oct. 25 at the Kellogg Elks Lodge 202 1/2 Mc Kinley Ave W and is hosted by Shoshone Funeral Services.
If you aren’t able to participate in Kelloween, Kellogg Police Department is hosting a trunk-or-treat event from 6-7 p.m. on Halloween in the Silver Mountain parking lot.
