Kay Yvonne King, 89
Kay Yvonne King, 89, of Prichard, Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Oct. 4, 2024, at her home in Prichard. Kay was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Spokane, Wash., daughter of the late Arthur McElroy and Hazel (Rhoades) McElroy.
Kay was a graduate of Kellogg High School, Class of 1953, and then went on to attend Kinman Business University in Spokane. Kay worked as an administrative assistant to the College of Fisheries dean at the University of Washington for 14 years.
On June 23, 1985, Kay married Jack King in Maui, Hawaii. The couple enjoyed traveling the world together, especially Italy and Ireland, but they had a special love for Maui. Kay cherished the outdoor activities, evenings with Jack and walks on the beaches. She was a voracious reader, and spent time on bike rides, baking and endless days with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Arthur and Hazel, Kay is preceded by her daughter, Debby Keegan; two brothers, Don McElroy and Bob McElroy; and four sisters, Leora Jensen, Dorothy Moore, Jean McEvers and Beverly Dixon.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 40 years, Jack King, of Prichard, Idaho; her son, Tim (Gail) Keegan, of Washington; her daughter, Jenny (Ron) Sanchez, of Wisconsin; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Kay is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Kellogg, Idaho, with Father Jerome Montez as the celebrant. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Spokane, Wash.
