TaTa's Party raises $25K for Silver Valley cancer patients

WALLACE — This year’s Tata’s Party raised $25,000 for Silver Valley cancer patients and their families through the Shoshone County Cancer Resource Center.

Ornately decorated bras and other artistically repurposed items and packages are donated and auctioned off to go towards fuel cards for medical treatments and other resources for cancer patients and their families.

The first event took place 13 years ago as a wine night on a smaller scale born out of sisterhood over a friend’s breast cancer diagnosis, but since then, it’s grown into a community-wide event and was held at the Wallace Elks.

Contributors crafting inventive bra designs are encouraged to represent hunting or other recreational aspects of life in the Silver Valley or celebrate local businesses.

There was a mystery wine wall and beer pull and auctioneer Darren Arave kept the energy high as eventgoers bid on 30 live auction items and 40 silent auction items.

Sponsors included Dave Smith Motors, Wallace Ace Hardware, Sweet Rides Towing, Hecla Mining, Bank CDA, So Natural Val, Zanetti Brothers, Peak Mechanical, Mountain West Bank, VFW #1675, U.S. Silver, Innovative Builders LLC and CDA Paving.

Silver Valley residents are able to use their services for gas and prescription vouchers, as well as applying for Debby’s Grant to assist with larger cancer-related expenses.

Artistic bras are donated and auctioned off to raise money for local cancer patients in the Silver Valley during the TaTa's Party. This year's event raised about $25,000 towards gas cards and prescription costs distributed by the Shoshone Cancer Resource Center.
