CATALDO –– After nearly a full day, deputies with the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office were able to successfully locate a missing 73-year-old man on Monday morning.

James Brown, who suffers from dementia, wandered off from his residence on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities searched the area late into Sunday, but as they lost daylight, the search was called off.

According to Cap. Seth Green with the SCSO, search and rescue efforts resumed early Monday, with the assistance of a helicopter from Two Bear Air Rescue.

Brown was located alive and well in the woods near Cataldo around 11 a.m. on Monday.

“We found him with the help of all of the assets we had working on this,” Green said. “We’re really thankful for our Silver Valley Search and Rescue team as well as Two Bear Air, who were a huge help.”

Two Bear Air Rescue is a privately funded helicopter rescue service based out of Kalispell, Montana. They provide no-cost air search and rescue support in Montana, Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Eastern Oregon.
