WALLACE –– Shoshone County Public Works Director Jessica Stutzke announced on Wednesday that work along Silver Valley Road near Big Creek is near completion, but major work will take place over the next few days.

According to Stutzke, the section of road from Montgomery Gulch to Big Creek is currently being torn up, but paving should be completed by Saturday. Once the paving is completed, the road will be shouldered, striped, and then reopened.

“Traffic on Silver Valley Road between Big Creek and Elizabeth Park will experience delays through early next week, with flaggers and a pilot car leading traffic through the construction zone during work hours for the remainder of this week,” Stutzke said. “The contractor is doing their best to try to minimize delays for drivers and have adjusted traffic control operations to shorten the delays that drivers have been experiencing.”

The Shoshone County Transfer Station, located near Montgomery Gulch, will remain open during the work.

While this work is completed, the nearby bridge replacement at the mouth of Moon Gulch will also be completed next week when the striping is finished.

“With all of the projects happening this season throughout Shoshone County, we recognize there have been significant impacts to drivers,” Stutzke said. “Thank you for your patience.”
