Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday on Coeur d'Alene River Road in Shoshone County, Idaho State Police said in a news release.

At 5:56 p.m. Saturday, state police and members of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash near milepost 19 on Coeur d’Alene River Road.

A 50-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene driving a gray 2016 Victory Magnum was traveling southbound on Coeur d’Alene River Road heading into a righthand curve.

During the curve, the Magnum reportedly struck a red 1999 Yamaha XV1600 traveling north.

The driver of the Magnum was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Yamaha was driven by a 34-year-old man also of Coeur d’Alene who had a minor as a passenger.

The driver of the Yamaha was transported by air to a local hospital and the minor was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

All occupants involved were wearing helmets.

The road was closed for approximately three hours while emergency responders processed the crash scene before the road was reopened in both directions.

Next of kin for the deceased man have been notified.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
