Stanley Carl Taylor, 78

| April 1, 2025 1:00 AM

Stanley “Stan” Carl Taylor, 78, a longtime resident of Wallace, Idaho, passed away March 22, 2025, after a long illness. Stan was born March 26, 1946, in Wallace, Idaho, where he was also raised. After attending school in Wallace, he went on to work at the Sunshine Mine as a hoistman for 38 years until the mine closed. Stan was a part of the Mine Rescue team during the Sunshine Mine Fire in May of 1972.

Stan loved telling stories of growing up in Wallace and talking about the mine. One story in particular was when he was a boy going to get root beer floats at the A&W after delivering newspapers. He loved talking to everyone and sometimes you would lose track of time talking to him. One of his favorite things was to lie in his La-Z-Boy chair under the tree in the summertime.

Stan loved camping, walking or tinkering around in the garage. He had a brilliant mind when it came to building or making things. He could figure things out that would puzzle most people. He was loving and kind, especially to his children and grandchildren.

Stan is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vicki; older brother Bill; and his son, Don.

He is survived by two sons, Douglas Taylor of Wallace, Idaho, and Christopher Taylor of Wallace, Idaho; a daughter, Cynthia Taylor of Post Falls, Idaho; his brother, Jim Taylor of Wallace, Idaho; sister Erma Dunn of Osburn, Idaho; and eight grandchildren, Phillip Taylor of Post Falls, Idaho, Thess Taylor, Nathen Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Araya Taylor, all of Seattle, Wash., Harliegh Taylor of Post Falls, Idaho, and Jax and Nala Archibald or Wallace, Idaho.

No services are planned at this time, but his family is planning a celebration of his life to be held later in the spring or summer.

Memories of Stan and messages of condolence may be shared online with his family at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the Taylor family with arrangements.
