Kellogg 53 Orofino 50
Kellogg junior Draeden Taylor nine of his team high 16 points in the fourth quarter and overtime for the Kellogg Wildcats in a win over the Orofino Maniacs in Central Idaho League play at Andrews Gymnasium on Saturday.
Kellogg trailed 10-4 after the first quarter and by as many as 15 in the first half before rallying.
“Brodie (Robinson) was able to convert an and-1 and cut the deficit to 10 at halftime,” Kellogg coach Mike Martin said. “It was a pretty big momentum shift. I’m just proud of the guys for competing. Orofino did a good job of making it difficult and we had to weather that early storm. We’ve been in a lot of close games, so it was nice to be on the right end of one. It’s really a testament to how far they’ve come.”
Senior Brodie Robinson scored 14 points for Kellogg.
Sophomore Blake Barlow scored 20 points for Orofino.
The Wildcats used the busy weekend to host a fundraiser for Vivian Bourgard, daughter of former Kellogg girls coach Eli Bourgard, who is battling leukemia.
“It was super cool for the community to come together and support this cause,” Martin said. “To see them come together for the family was really cool to see.”
