ST. MARIES — Junior guard JJ Yearout scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter for the Lumberjacks in a Central Idaho League win over the Wildcats at St. Maries High. 

“It was kind of a weird game,” St. Maries coach Bryan Chase said. “Neither of us shot the ball really great. Both of our horses did most of the scoring and we both just locked things down on the defensive end. Credit to Kellogg, they did a good job of switching up defenses and it took us a while to get going.” 

Yearout also had nine rebounds, four steals and three assists, senior Hayden Defoort had 10 rebounds and sophomore Landon Riberich had six blocks for St. Maries. 

Junior Draeden Taylor scored 19 points for Kellogg.

HARRISON FLATS — Chris Moore hit five 3-pointers and scored 34 points as the host Warriors defeated the Tigers in North Star League play. 

Riley Ausman added 12 points, Dylan Gentry 10 for Kootenai. 

“We switched our defense to a man-to-man, and that seemed to really benefit the fast break and the rebounding,” Kootenai coach Tom Tucker said. “A great performance by Chris and Riley, and Logan Strobel’s defense and intensity riled up the team. Dylan played a great offensive and defensive game.” 

Colten Imes scored 16 points, Mike Morgan 12 for Mullan.

MULLAN — Cyrus Reed scored 17 points for the Wildcats junior varsity in a win over the Tigers at the Mullan Pavilion. 

“Cyrus got us going early and our halfcourt trap gave us a few extra possessions to work with,” Kellogg JV coach Josh McDonald said. “Both (Mullan coaches) Griff and Kami (Rasmussen) are doing a great job with these boys. They’re young and in a few years, they should be pretty tough.” 

Colten Imes scored six points for Mullan.

HARRISON FLATS — The host Warriors jumped out to a 32-7 halftime lead and finished with three players in double figures in a North Star League win over the Tigers at Kootenai High. 

It is Kootenai’s first outright league title since 2008. 

Freshman Sadie Rose Davidson had 14 points, 13 rebounds and six steals, freshman Brooklyn Charles 13 points and 11 rebounds and freshman Harleigh Dutton 14 points and nine rebounds for Kootenai.

POST FALLS — Senior Sienna Williams scored 22 points as the second-seeded Jaguars held the third-seeded Miners to 15 points through three quarters in a firstround victory at the 2A District 1 tournament at Post Falls High. 

Kinzie Lawler added nine points, Summer Nelke eight for Genesis Prep. 

“The game started out fairly slow and Wallace does a good job of packing their defense in,” second- year Genesis Prep coach Nate Frisbie said. “In the second and third quarters we were able to get a bit more penetration and make some things happen. Really proud of our girls and how hard they worked the entire game.” 

Junior Kylee Phillips scored 10 points for Wallace.

KELLOGG — The visiting Priest River Spartans battled back from a scoreless second quarter to outscore the Kellogg Wildcats 28-8 in the second half for a win in Central Idaho League play on Wednesday at Andrews Gymnasium, clinching the second seed to the 3A District 1-2 tournament starting on Saturday. 

Desi Humphrey scored 14 points, Paityn Yount 11 for Priest River. 

Aubree Groth had 11 points and seven rebounds, Peyton Storey nine rebounds and Ella Yrjana five rebounds for Kellogg.

POST FALLS — Julian Davis scored 30 points, and Emmitt Myles scored the game-winning putback with 1.9 seconds left as the visiting Miners edged the Jaguars in Scenic Idaho Conference play at The Courts at Real Life. 

It was the second straight nailbiter between the two teams. 

Genesis Prep won 53-52 at Wallace on Jan. 24.
