Joseph Bayard Miller, 73
Joseph Bayard Miller Jr., MD, beloved husband, father and retired doctor, passed away Feb. 15, 2025, in Silverton, Idaho, surrounded by his wife, daughter and best family friend, Bonnie Merrick. Born on Oct. 23, 1951, to Joseph Bayard Miller Sr. and Gloria Miller in New Orleans, La., Bayard lived a life full of laughter, love and adventure.
In 1988, Bayard met his soulmate and love of his life, Audrey Miller, and together they raised a wonderful daughter, Janelle Miller. Bayard was a dedicated family man, always put his loved ones first.
Bayard was educated at Louisiana State University, Rhodes College and the University of Tennessee. Throughout his career as a surgeon and family physician, Bayard touched the lives of countless patients throughout the Valley with his skill and compassion. He retired in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of healing and care.
In his free time, Bayard enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, from camping, fishing and sailing to flying his plane and playing golf. He was an avid lover of animals, rescuing and caring for over 30 dogs over the past 40 years. He especially found joy in mowing the lawn, a task he approached with enthusiasm and precision.
Bayard will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laughter and a warm smile. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Bayard, Babes, Papa, Doc. May your spirit soar as high as your plane once did. And may the lawn in heaven be as meticulously mowed as your front yard.
