Lloyd Howard Coons, 74, of Kingston, Idaho, passed away Feb. 23 at Kootenai Health in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, surrounded by his loving family. Lloyd, whose zest for life and passion for family and friends left a lasting impression on all who knew him, will be remembered for his warmth, kindness and love of fishing. Lloyd lived in Southern Idaho most of his life. After retiring, he relocated to Northern Idaho to be closer to his family and the outdoors. He found great joy in starting his mornings with breakfast and coffee alongside his friends, where they would share laughter and stories.

Lloyd graduated from Borah High School in Boise, Idaho, in 1969. Following his education, he enlisted in the Air National Guard. He was united in marriage to Jackie Paustian. Their union was blessed with three children, Justin, Stephanie and Stacie, and 25 years of marriage together. Lloyd worked as a butcher for many years and later became a certified nursing assistant and worked for the Idaho State School and Hospital, before transferring to doing in-home care for the disabled.

Lloyd is survived by his beloved sister, Kay (Ray) Rhoads, sister Colleen (Rod) Kost, brother Terry (Nenita) Coons, and his three children: son Justin (Debi) Coons and daughters Stephanie (Shaun) Limesand and Stacie (David) Anthony. He was a proud grandfather to Faith, Austin, Maddie, Anissa, Morgan, Jacob, Kyndall, Mckenna, Kodi, Brogan and Kayden, as well as a cherished great-grandfather. He is also remembered by his lifetime best friend, Carla Thornton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lloyd’s laughter and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

There will be a memorial/celebration of life May 17, at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel at 373 E. Hayden Ave.
