Wayne Gene Fister, 83
Wayne Gene Fister, 83, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Jan. 22, 2025, in his sleep at home in Kellogg. Wayne was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Bremerton, Wash., to Robert Earl and Georgia Lucille Eastwood. He was adopted by Roy Thomas (Tom) Fister when his mother remarried. Wayne will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He lived most of his life in the Pacific Northwest of Idaho, Washington and Oregon, where he grew up with his brothers and sisters. He thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors and simple living with family and friends.
Wayne was a retiree from the Sunshine Mining Company. Over 35 years of his life were spent underground in the hard rock mining industry.
He had been married twice. His first marriage was to Shirley Howland in 1962 at Bonners Ferry, Idaho. They had three sons: Wayne Eugene Fister Jr., Robert Earl Fister, and Brian Dennis Fister. He then married the love of his life, Julia Anne Hay, on Feb. 4, 1981, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl Eastwood and Georgia Lucille Fister (2008); adoptive father Roy Thomas Fister Sr. (1989); brothers Robert Earl Eastwood (1958) and Roy Thomas Fister Jr. (1993); sister Hope Amanda Fister (1990); and his three sons Wayne Eugene Fister Jr. (1988), Robert Earl Fister (1986) and Brian Dennis Fister.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Julia, two sisters and many nephews, nieces and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Shoshone Funeral Services in Kellogg, Idaho. A potluck reception will follow the services at the Kellogg Baptist Church. Wayne will be interred next to his sons at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.
