Nolan Edward Webb, 73

| July 8, 2025 1:00 AM

Nolan Edward Webb, age 73, passed away from natural causes Friday, June 20, 2025, at his home in Smelterville, Idaho. Nolan was born July 4, 1951, in Fort Belknap, Mont. Nolan was the oldest of eleven children born to Paul Edward Webb and Vivian Eileen (Messerly) Webb.

Nolan attended elementary school in both Idaho and Montana. In 1960, Nolan and his family made their final move back to Montana and made their home both at and near Lodge Pole. While living at the ID’s, Nolan learned to do what would become his lifelong passion; it was there he learned to hunt, fish and trap. His family moved back to Lodge Pole and there he joined his dad and brothers in a post and corral pole business. This business continued through the duration of Nolan’s high school years and several years afterward.  After his eighth-grade promotion, Nolan attended high school in Harlem, Mont. He played basketball both in his junior high years at Lodge Pole Elementary and in his freshman and sophomore years at Harlem High School. He graduated in 1970 from Harlem High School. From his early teen years and throughout high school, Nolan continued to help his dad in the post/corral pole business in order to assist his parents in the financial support of raising their large family.

A couple of years after his graduation, in 1975, Nolan moved to Idaho and began working at the Lucky Friday Mine, where he continued to work for a total of forty years until his retirement. Nolan married Robin Darst on Feb. 17, 1979. To this union, two daughters were born, Darla Ann and Jennifer Eileen. Nolan’s family continued to grow with the birth of two grandsons. His first grandson, Isaiah Edward Webb, was born first, and seven years later, his second grandson, Noah Robert Werk. Nolan loved his daughters and grandsons very much; they literally were his whole world. He was their biggest supporter and the pride he had for all of them was obvious to everyone who knew him.

Some of Nolan’s favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, camping, playing pool and watching sports with the boys. Nolan loved spending time with his favorite people, his family. In addition to time spent at home with his family, he also loved traveling to Montana and visiting his family there. He would always make sure that he made his rounds to visit everyone, but usually, because he never notified everyone that he was coming, some were not home when he stopped by. He also thoroughly enjoyed having family travel to Idaho to visit him and his family. Nolan was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to him and he will be dearly missed by everyone.

Nolan is survived by his daughters: Darla (Larry) Kelley and Jennifer Webb, grandsons: Isaiah Webb and Noah Werk, Siblings: Floyd (Debbie) Webb, Susie (Junior) Fetter, Cheryl Iwan, Jim (Kristine) Webb, Sissy (Fred) Mahns, Dennis (Candace) Webb, John (Irma) Webb, Paul Jr. (Vivian) Webb, Glen (Lisa) Webb and Melissa (Jackson) Webb.

Nolan is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Edward Webb and Vivian Eileen “Pug” (Messerly) Webb, his brother-in-law, Don Iwan, and his great-nephew, Brendan Michael Mahns.

There will be a memorial service for Nolan on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Harlem Assembly of God Church in Harlem, Mont., with burial following at the Messerly Cemetery east of Lodge Pole, Mont.
