Silver Valley man who threatened CDA legislator to be sentenced this month
COEUR D’ALENE – A Silver Valley man accused of threatening a state official is set to be sentenced later this month after accepting a plea agreement.
In February, Ryan Gaddy was arrested after her made several threats against state Rep. Jordan Redman, R-Coeur d’Alene, and his family.
Gaddy, 41, had made a series of threats on Facebook against Redman due to his involvement in a piece of state legislation regarding Medicaid. These threats included commentary about potentially firebombing Redman's office. Gaddy also made a video outside Redman's place of business, Redman and Company Insurance.
According to the report filed by Coeur d’Alene Police, Gaddy allegedly told the responding officer over the phone that Redman and anyone around him needed to die. A warrant was issued, and Gaddy was later taken into custody in Shoshone County before being extradited to Kootenai County.
Following his arrest, Gaddy was charged with three felonies, including making threats against a state elected official, offering bribes to legislators, and threats or other improper influence in official and political matters.
As part of the settlement agreement, Gaddy will plead guilty to the single count of making threats against a state official, for which the maximum penalty is five years in prison.
In November of last year, Gaddy was involved in a standoff with the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office after making threatening social media posts and statements to law enforcement. The resulting standoff ended peacefully.
Gaddy’s sentencing is scheduled for July 23, at 3 p.m.
