Bridge project to be discussed at open house
OSBURN – An open house is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss an upcoming bridge project near Osburn.
According to a release from the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC), the Terror Gulch Bridge has reached the end of its service life and needs replacing. The project is part of the Leading Idaho Local Bridge Program.
According to LHTAC’s bidding forecast chart, bidding for the project is still at least six months out, which means work on the bridge won’t begin until next year at the earliest.
The Terror Gulch Bridge spans the South Fork Coeur d’Alene River and provides the only maintained access to more than 100 homes in Terror Gulch and the Sunny Slopes subdivision.
“The reconstruction of this bridge will improve the safety of the local transportation network,” Shoshone County Public Works Director Jessica Stutzke said. “And these improvements will be a huge benefit for residents and businesses alike.”
The open house will give residents the opportunity to see the plans for the project, ask questions, and meet the project team.
The Leading Idaho Local Bridge Program is part of Gov. Brad Little’s Leading Idaho initiative, which uses state surplus funds for replacement projects of bridges 20 feet in length or longer. Shoshone County has several bridges in the program, including the Bunker Ave. Bridge in Kellogg, the Silver Bridge in Enaville, Two-Mile Bridge in Osburn, and the Third Street Bridge in Mullan.
The Terror Gulch Bridge open house is Wednesday, June 4, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Shoshone Fire District #1 station in Osburn.
